Quick Details
Nature Walk led by a Naturalist in the actual Everglades National Park
Join us on a 1.5-hour nature walk led by a master naturalist in an ecosystem that is like no other in the world. Rated as easy, this extensive dry walk provides the opportunity to see large alligators, baby alligators, turtles, a vast array of bird species, and much more! We never go to places with animals in cages and pens. We don't consider it ethical. And it's much more exciting to see wildlife up close, in the wild! Learn from the naturalist guide what makes this ecosystem like no other in the world; and why Everglades National Park is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Florida. Learn about the critical role of water flow in the historic Everglades, and about conservation efforts to revitalize it today.
1-Hour or longer Air Boat Ride way out in the "River of Grass" region of the real Everglades. No cookie cutter boat trip - we partner with a Native family company guide, which allows us to explore way far from land and to become immersed in this incredibly vast wilderness. We will get off at a Native tree island or two to explore. Learn why the Native peoples inhabited these areas, and experience the authentic beauty of their remote way of life. On this National Geographic-like trip, there is the chance to see all kinds of wildlife, like large and baby alligators, and a wide array of bird species; and who knows, maybe even the critically endangered Everglades snail kite!
Other Aspects of the Trip You will have time to explore on your own in the National Park and to visit the National Park Visitor Center. Visiting Everglades National Park is a bucket list experience, especially for those who have visited other national parks; but who have yet to visit this iconic one. Some people like to collect pins and stamps and other souvenirs from each national park. Your kids can complete the Junior Ranger activities and receive a Junior Ranger badge. The tour begins with a 25-minute narrated scenic drive!

- Many people do this tour as a transition: It's in a great location for either continuing down to Homestead or the Florida Keys right after the tour. Or some do this tour after visiting the Keys, on the way back up to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or the West Coast. The location is not that far from the Turnpike exit when going to or coming from the Keys.
- This is a convenient meet-up location for people coming from some areas on the west coast of Florida as well. Some people transition by taking this tour, coming from the west coast to Miami or somewhere else on the east coast!
Please plan on meeting us at the Miccosukee General Store.
The Miccosukee General Store and gas station location is just 1/4 of a mile west of the entrance to Shark Valley Visitors Center, which is the north entrance of Everglades National Park. So, in case the general store doesn't come up in maps (sometimes it doesn't), you can GPS Shark Valley Visitors Center as well. If you are driving from the east, just keep going a little past Shark Valley, and you'll see the general store and gas station on your right-hand side.
Reference: This general store and gas station is located just east of the Miccosukee Village, and about 20 minutes west of Miccosukee Casino, but is far away from the Miccosukee Reservation Snake Road, which is way out on I-75.
Please note: The address for Shark Valley is 36000 SW 8th St.
Please drive safely, and within the speed limit. Please try to park on the west side of the general store and gas station area. We will show you where to park for the day after you arrive. We will meet you there between 8:30 and 8:40 a.m.

FAQ
What should I bring?
We provide a lot of things, so you don't really have to bring much.
Some people bring a hat or sunglasses.
How much is a normal tip for the air boat captain guide?
$5 per person for a shared tour. A private tour might be more like $15 to $20 per person.
How much is a typical tip for a Wild Lime guide?
Whatever you think sounds reasonable. Some guests tip $10 to $20 per person. Tipping is customary and much appreciated. We can provide your guide's Venmo or Zelle handle upon request. Thanks for considering!
Can I get a discount if I reserved through a third-party seller?
No. Unfortunately, we can only provide the direct booking discount and the meet-up discount for direct bookings.
Can we bring a lunch?
Yes, you can. We have a cooler you can put it in if you want. Some people bring a sandwich or something like that on occasion. Not everyone does though, because this tour wraps up around lunch time.
Is it a hard walk?
No, it's a very easy walk, and we take our time. We take our time because there is usually a lot of wildlife and we just want people to enjoy it! We have had all ages on this tour from young kids to people in their 80s. The walk is about 2.5 miles round-trip.
Can you guarantee seeing alligators and other wildlife?
No. That is the beauty of it, because it's all in the wild! It is very rare though (maybe once a year) that we would not see at least a few alligators on the walk. And often, we see many alligators, and a lot of other wildlife too! We know where a lot of the wildlife is, but there are always a few surprises! One never knows what they'll see in the Everglades!
Are there mosquitoes?
Surprisingly, many parts of the year there are not usually too many mosquitoes, if any. There can be mosquitoes though in the summer to early fall months, some years more than others. We have mosquito repellent if you need some.
What kind of shoes should I wear?
We recommend just being comfortable. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Sneakers, trainers, and even sandles are fine; as long as it is comfortable to walk in. You don't need hiking boots. There is one part of the walk though that is a bit off trail. You can skip this part if you want. But if going on this part with our guide, we don't recommend brand new shoes. They might get some dirt or bit of a mud on them.
What kind of clothes should I wear?
From April through early November, it can get pretty hot out there! So, just dress comfortably. Shorts and a T-shirt are fine. In the winter it can be warm too, but it can also get chilly sometimes, and we will be out on a boat for at least an hour. So, if it is a chilly day, bring a sweater or light jacket.
What is the minimum age requirement?
5 years old for shared tours but no minimum for private tours.
