General
What should I bring?
We provide a lot of things, so you don't really have to bring much.
Some people bring a hat or sunglasses. Bringing some type of water bottle is also a good idea, so you can fill up with water when you want.
Help Us Protect the Everglades — Bring Your Reusable Water Bottle
As an eco-tour company, we’re committed to reducing single-use plastics and protecting the incredible places we explore. To support this mission, we no longer provide disposable water bottles on our tours.
We will have plenty of cold, filtered water available at all times for you to refill — so please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle.
By doing this, you help us cut down on waste, protect wildlife, and keep the Everglades and South Florida’s ecosystems pristine for future generations.
Thank you for joining us in making a positive impact. Let’s explore sustainably, together.
What clothing should I wear?
In the summer months, it is hot! Dress for the heat by wearing cool and comfortable clothes. If you have a rain jacket, bring but if not, we have ponchos to borrow. In the winter months, you may wish to have a light jacket for the boat trips as it can get cool out on the water.
What is appropriate footwear?
We recommend sneakers so you can run fast from the gators! Just kidding, any comfortable shoes, including sandals are fine unless you are going on a wet walk.
What special items do I need for the wet walk?
For the wet walk, you need closed-toed shoes. We have water shoes you can borrow but you may be more comfortable in your own shoes. Your shoes do not get ruined, only wet. We have a hose to rinse off after the wet walk. Be sure to bring a pair of pants to change into after the walk and perhaps even a full change of clothes for kids or shorter people!
What about a swimsuit?
We don’t recommend swimming with the alligators.
How any bird species can I potentially see?
Birds are always plentiful in the Everglades but the dry season (November to June) is the best time to spot birds.
The Everglades and Big Cypress are two of the richest birding destinations in North America. Because these parks offer so many different habitats—freshwater marsh, mangrove forest, cypress swamp, tropical hardwood hammock, and coastal estuary—each stop reveals new species.
On a typical Wild Lime Adventures tour, guests can expect to see:
30–50 species on a general nature and wildlife tour
50–80 species on a bird-focused outing
Up to 90–110 species during peak migration or dry season (yes, really!)
Wading birds, raptors, owls, waterfowl, songbirds, and coastal specialties all make appearances throughout the year. The Everglades are especially famous for Roseate Spoonbills, Wood Storks, Great White Herons, Swallow-tailed Kites (seasonal), Limpkins, Anhingas, and a variety of egrets and herons.
No matter your level of experience, our expert naturalists tailor each outing to highlight the best possible birdlife of the day. With abundant wildlife and spectacular scenery, every tour offers unforgettable encounters.
Some of our group is not as adventurous as the others, what do you suggest?
Our Tour #5 – Southern Everglades Exploration with 90-Minute Boat Trip and Tour #7 – Everglades National Park Kayaking Adventure are fully interchangeable. If you’re traveling as a mixed group, you can easily choose the experience that fits each person’s interests.
Some guests may prefer to kayak through the mangroves, while others may want to relax and enjoy the 90-minute wildlife boat tour—and both options can take place at the same time and in the same area.
This flexibility makes it perfect for families, corporate groups, or friends with different adventure levels. Everyone enjoys the same beautiful region of the Everglades, and you’ll reunite afterward to continue the tour together.
If you’d like help customizing the day or coordinating mixed activities, we are happy to assist!
Read our blog post if you want more details on how this works.
Transportation
Can I drive my own car and meet you?
Yes, many people prefer this. We have safe and free parking available. If you booked directly with us, we can even provide a credit towards your gas money.
What if I am not sure I am in your pickup zone?
Please don’t hesitate to call , text, email or WhatsApp us for clarification. We are here to help!
What time will you pick me up?
We won’t know this until the day before your tour. It is based on the other pickups that day. We try very hard to not have you spend a lot of time doing pickups, so we carefully plan the pickups every day to ensure you are being transported efficiently. As soon as the route is planned, we notify you by a call, text, email or WhatsApp.
How do you manage to pick up in such a large metropolitan area?
Over the years, we have gotten quite good with logistics. However, South Florida traffic can be horrible, especially if there is a big event in town. At times, we need to rely on Uber or other transportation partners. If you are in our pickup zone and we need to have Uber pick you up, we will do so at our cost.
Can I be dropped off at the airport?
Yes, this is a service we can provide and many people find it is nice to combine a tour with transportation! We will even store your luggage with us while you are on tour. Please be sure to ask us about the timing of the tour to be sure you get to the airport in plenty of time.
Can we be picked up or dropped off at the cruise ships?
Yes, this is a service we can provide and many people find it is nice to combine a tour with transportation! We will even store your luggage with us while you are on tour.
Can we be dropped off at a different location than where we were picked up?
Yes, definitely, but please reach out to us to arrange this as it affects our overall logistics.
